Trust and mistrust in the police and the rule of law - a survey of young people and police officers to systematically promote exchange and trust (VIP)

The aim of the project is to develop measures that sustainably promote continuous dialog and mutual understanding between young people and the police. By strengthening the participation of young people in Dortmund, acceptance of the rule of law is to be increased and democracy-related skills developed. As part of the quantitative research, approaches are being developed to gear police work more closely to the needs of young people. To this end, comprehensive surveys of both young people and police employees will be conducted in order to analyze various aspects of the topic. In addition, young people's trust in other state institutions such as immigration authorities or youth welfare offices will be examined quantitatively and a comparative analysis will be carried out on this basis.
