The Master Class: Qualitative Methods of Social Research and Cultural Analysis is an innovative event format with the aim of imparting methodological expertise in the field of qualitative social research and cultural analysis. To this end, proven experts work with selected Master's students, doctoral candidates and post-doctoral students on empirical material from ongoing projects in a theory-based and methodologically sound manner. At the same time, the master class aims to strengthen the links between the master's and doctoral phases so that doctoral students can pass on their research experience to master's students.
The master class takes place once a year at the Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen (KWI), the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities of the Ruhr Universities (Bochum, Dortmund, Duisburg-Essen), and is organized in close cooperation by the Hans Kilian and Lotte Köhler Center for Social and Cultural Psychology and Historical Anthropology (KKC).
