Our Team at the 2026 DGS Congress

This year’s DGS conference was held under the theme “The Futures of Society.” Our department was able to present and discuss current research through a variety of event formats:
Anna Cornelia Reinhardt gave a presentation titled “Exploring Transnational Migration: An Ethnographic and Situational-Analytical Approach to Mobile (Lifeworld) Realities.”
Fatih Bahadir Kaya presented his talk “Mediodoxy and Post-Migrant (In)Visibility: Toward a Praxeological Reconstruction of Field-Theoretical Strategies of Action” at the section event “Section on Migration and Ethnic Minorities: Futures of Post-Migrant (In)Visibility in an Immigration Society.”
Michi Hügel and Liesa Traupe delivered a joint presentation titled “Familial Narratives of Social Mobility Among First-Generation Students and Their Families of Origin” at the section event “Section on Education and Upbringing: Current Research Projects in the Sociology of Education.”
Fatih Bahadir Kaya presented his talk “Vulnerability as a Sedimented Form of Practice: The Phase of Affectedness, Symbolic Violence, and the Genesis of a Coping Habitus” in the ad hoc group “Humiliation—Insult—Vulnerability.”
Fatih Bahadir Kaya with his presentation “Sacralization as a Mode of Radicalization: Ontologization, Enigmatic Structures, and Religious Semantics in Right-Wing Terrorism” at the section event “Section on the Sociology of Religion: Society Between Sacralization and Conflict. Perspectives from the Sociology of Religion.”
We were delighted by the lively participation in our presentations as well as the numerous questions, thought-provoking insights, and discussions during, between, and after the events, and we look forward to the next congress in Leipzig in 2028.
