New article published on the (re)production of educational inequality in the transition from preparatory to regular classes.

In Germany, newly arrived students with little or no knowledge of German are initially enrolled in so-called introductory classes. In order to prepare the children and adolescents for the full transition to the mainstream classrooms, they are taught predominantly, sometimes even exclusively, the German language. The transition is significant for the educational trajectory of the newcomers. However, there are only few legal regulations for the transition phase. Using a secondary analysis of three qualitative research projects, this transition is analyzed in relation to theories of educational inequalities. Link to the publication
