News from Sociology of Migration and Education - New article by Dr. Anna Cornelia Reinhardt

This article is dedicated to the situation as an object of investigation and basic concept of qualitative social research. The social-theoretical references, the methodological implications and two open question complexes of the work program of situation analysis presented by Clarke are discussed. Finally, following the sociological discourse on the concept of situation, a proposal for a different foundation for reconstructive situation analysis is outlined, which takes up the interdependence of situation and situatedness on a synchronic level and the interplay of change and stability on a diachronic level.
