On November 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the kickoff event for the Research Community Diversity and Society will take place at Beckmannshof at Ruhr University Bochum.

During the public session of the kickoff event, Katharina Josefine Walgenbach (University of Hamburg) will deliver an introductory lecture on the topic “Diversity in Late Modernity. Consequences, Perspectives, and Challenges for Diversity Research,” and will then participate in a panel discussion with representatives from all of the Research Community’s research focus areas to discuss current arenas and conditions in diversity research. In the afternoon, interested participants are invited to workshops in the five research fields, where current issues and research perspectives will be explored.
