During the event, the authors Prof. Aladin El-Mafaalani (TU Dortmund University), Prof. Sebastian Kurtenbach (FH Münster and RUB) and Prof. Klaus Peter Strohmeier (RUB) will present their book together. "Kinder - Minderheit ohne Schutz" was published by Kiepenheuer & Witsch in 2025 and was nominated for the German Non-Fiction Prize 2025.

On June 17, 2026 at 18:00, Prof. Aladin El-Mafaalani, Prof. Sebastian Kurtenbach and Prof. Klaus Peter Strohmeier will present their book "Kinder - Minderheit ohne Schutz". The event takes place at the invitation of the SOPRA alumni association and in cooperation with ZEFIR (Center for Interdisciplinary Regional Research) at the Department of Social Sciences at Ruhr-Universität Bochum in HGD 20. The evening will be moderated by Louisa Anna Süß.

In their book, the authors show why the state of crisis has become part of everyday life for many children and young people. They argue that the younger generation is not given enough political consideration and is neglected by society. Children must be placed more at the center of political and social action. The book combines a well-founded analysis of the challenges with concrete solutions and makes it clear that the task is so great that everyone can make a contribution.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is required and is possible until June 12.
